GRADIANT LAUNCHES OILFIELD SERVICES SUBSIDIARY UPON CONTINUED CONTRACT WINS
Introduces Gradiant Energy Services, Builds on Success of Proprietary Water Treatment Technologies
BOSTON, Sept. 15, 2016 – Gradiant, a technology company specializing in industrial water solutions and innovations, today announced the formation of its oilfield services company Gradiant Energy Services (GES). The wholly-owned subsidiary provides solutions and services for economic, efficient and environmentally friendly treatment, reuse and recycling of water in the oil and gas industry.
The formation of GES follows more than three years of successful implementation of Gradiant’s award-winning technologies in the produced water treatment market. Founded by a team of engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Gradiant has developed a number of proprietary water treatment technologies that are currently in use in the Permian Basin and the Marcellus Shale.
GES brings innovative methods to bacteria treatment, clean brine recycling, desalination to freshwater quality and evaporative brine concentration. With these unique approaches, operators can treat highly contaminated water with fewer chemicals and less energy, all at a lower overall cost than traditional treatment methods. Significant cost savings, reduced environmental impact and more efficient disposal, reuse and handling of water are already being achieved by Gradiant’s proprietary Carrier Gas Extraction (CGE™), Free Radical Disinfection (FRD™) and Selective Chemical Extraction (SCE™) solutions.
Adding to Gradiant’s four previous 10,000 BPD build-own-operate recycling projects, GES enters the market with several new applications in the Permian Basin and the Marcellus Shale that will be delivered and commissioned in 2016, including:
- a 500 BPD Carrier Gas Extraction (CGE™) brine concentration system in the Marcellus Shale
- a 1.5 million barrel storage pit disinfection system in the Permian Basin
- a 10,000 BPD clean brine recycling system in the Permian Basin
- multiple 100 barrels per minute on-the-fly disinfection systems in the Permian Basin
“The creation of Gradiant Energy Services represents a major milestone for our company. We have brought our technologies to a fully commercial level of maturity, which is also indicated by increasing customer adoption and confidence,” said Anurag Bajpayee, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Gradiant. “Creating an energy-focused subsidiary lets our thriving oilfield services business continue on its growth trajectory, while allowing the technology team to focus on continued innovation, commercialization and international partnerships to benefit our work across multiple industries and regions.”
Gradiant will continue to pursue the development of new technologies, customized solutions and strategic partnerships across the globe to add to its growing industrial water treatment process portfolio, which includes applications in other water-critical industries such as power production, coal-to-chemicals, mining, textiles, tanneries and high recovery seawater desalination.
